Ever since I began my healing journey, besides working on cleaning up my diet, I have made it a priority to make sure I put movement into each day. My favorite is walking, hiking or biking for every day activities, and the bonus swimming or horseback riding are my favorites when I can fit them in.
We have landed in sunny, HOT Arizona this week, so Pretty Miss Penny and I hit the pavement before sunrise to enjoy the quiet coolness of the day.
I couldn't walk very far without huffing and puffing three summers back but I tried. And I didn't do it daily. Now I have several short walks worked into every day, and having my little punkin' who loves it is so helpful. These days I never struggle to breath, and there is a spring in my step. But it took time.
"According to the Hepatitis B Foundation, your liver operates in much the same way as the engine in a car. Like an engine, your liver performs a number of functions that ensure other body processes run smoothly. Taking care of your liver is essential to helping it function properly, especially if you have liver disease. A component of good care is regular exercise, which can improve both your overall health and have a positive effect on liver function." The Effect of Exercise on Liver Function
By Jackie Lohrey
It is important if you are just starting out to listen to your body. Fatigue is very much a part of liver disease and you need to honor your rest time and start slow.
Exercise improves your heart, which in turn helps get blood to your body, including your liver, helping it to function more efficiently and heal!
So get out there, I'll see you in the trail.
Love, Sue
Hi Sue, is this Palm Creek in Casa Grande AZ? If so, we used to spend winters down there when we were full timing. I know it's grown a lot over the last 15 years, and we enjoyed it for many winters.
