When I talk about working on your whole being to achieve your ultimate health, I mean literally every little thing. Mind, body, heart, soul…finding new things that spark interest, passion, mindfulness , peace…shall I go on? I could, but you feel me I’m sure.
So a few weeks ago I resurrected my active passion and logged some time on horseback. HUGELY great plan and I’ll do it again.
This week I enlisted my sister in law who is a wizard in all things creative to humor my sudden urge to learn how to crochet. I’ve been obsessed with granny square crafts. Like, creepy obsessed with them. I can’t get enough of them. So I decided I should learn how to make them myself. I had no idea how to do it. She bravely agreed to help me. And I’m doing it!!! Whaaat???? I may be more shocked than she is. I must say she is a patient and kind teacher and lit the fire to help me be even more obsessed.
I’ll leave you with a great reason to try it…the first session with my SIL I honestly thought I was all thumbs, had no game, and was as clunky and awkward as could be. But it’s starting to click!!
One of the reasons crochet is so relaxing is because it allows us to achieve mindfulness, the state of being in which we are fully immersed in the present moment. This gives the mind a much-needed break from worries about the past and future, allowing the brain and body to both rejuvenate themselves. We all know how important anything that can do this for me is. So I’m excited to continue learning…this and anything else that sparks interest.
You should too.
Love, Sue
