Over 4,000 people responded in kind and Chu and Bennehamias spent link the past few months combing through the submissions to select their winners. The process was intense, I imagine, because they weren't simply selecting the best or best looking sketch, the winning watches will be produced, in some form, pending feasibility. So while my idea of a Royal Oak made entirely out of acorns may have been brilliant link it would link not have been selected due to its difficulty to manufacture.

This isn't the link modern iteration of the Nivada Grenchen brand. Under Laidet's stewardship, it has become a time capsule and link perhaps the go-to example for how to re-create historically significant watch designs – 1:1 – link and have fun along the way. And it's this spirit that makes today's story all the more interesting.

Rexhepi, who started his career as an apprentice at Patek Philippe, has long been aware of the reverence that surrounds Hagmann's work. "At link 15, I was dreaming that maybe one day I would have one case from him," he says, laughing. "I never forgot link that dream, even after I started [Akrivia] in 2012, I would link mention it to friends. In 2019, one of them said, 'Why haven't you ever contacted him? You talk about him all the time.'"

Not all NATO-style straps are created equal, of course. (Show of hands – how many of us have been disappointed by the quality of that five-dollar impulse link Amazon purchase?) But the best link NATO straps will simply make the experience of wearing a watch a little easier and a bit more comfortable. It's the simple things that make this hobby worthwhile, like link putting a dive watch on a grey NATO at the first sign of summer.
