Every single individual on that trip would, after seeing what went into the watch, go on to purchase a Datograph. William Massena was on the trip, during which he purchased the Datograph seen in his link HODINKEE Talking Watches episode, link complete with platinum bracelet. He says he still wears the watch regularly. In a picture from the trip, he appears in the back row, second from the right link – directly in front of him is the woman who took the Datograph from idea to reality, Annegret Fleischer.
An additional advantage, as link summer will soon be back, is that in addition to the perfectly integrated metal link bracelet, the Octo Roma Chronograph link comes with two link rubber links that are closed by a pin buckle.
The Chilluminati is, like all of link Haven's watches, hand-assembled in Indiana – it also ships with blue straps made of Midwestern leather from SB Foot Tanning Company, cut in Indiana and hand-assembled link in Minnesota. It comes with a vintage-inspired metal bracelet, as well, link easily swapped thanks to the drilled lugs, and it's all packaged in a recycled cardboard box and accompanied by a manual featuring art and poetry from Midwest-born artists.
Next up is London auction house Bonhams, a treasure trove loved by both me and Stevens; he suggests trying Bonhams Knightsbridge, "They don't have the sexiness that the other auction houses link do, but 10, 15 years ago they were one of the biggest players in link the watch game." If you dig through the lots, chances are you'll find some cool offbeat gems that you might link actually have a chance of winning at auction.
First link of all, the brushed surfaces of the case imbue the piece with an immediate sense of that old tool watch charm. And then there's the size. Hamilton is kind of known for producing bangers in the 38mm size range. The Intra-Matic, the Khaki Fields – both Mechanical and Automatic – are all positioned there. But this one feels different. Maybe it's link because we aren't used to seeing link conventional bezel-designed timepieces sized this small.
