Getting to the Health of the Matter

Writer's picture: Susan PrydeSusan Pryde

A current 101 pound Face to Face Friday for a a visual point of reference here.

You can see the combo of pallor and skin problems caused by a liver that couldn't process the toxins...I tried to cover them with make-up...you can see it in the eyes (that first photo was about 2 weeks before I started, the second was yesterday).

Non Scale Victory Benefits!

Health is where it's at!

  • Cholesterol High to Normal,

  • Triglycerides High to Normal,

  • Hypothyroidism...lowering dosages still.

  • Blood Pressure High to Normal

  • CPAP (sleep apnea machine) kicked to the curb. NAFLD/NASH/Cirrhosis - improving! Liver fat levels now trace from September ultrasound, Healing the portions of my liver that were working properly (the "cirrhotic/scarred portions will forever remain thus - and still a labor of love, a major work in progress.

  • Activity - sedentary to happily active - (loving my hiking!).

  • MENTAL - from depressed and tired to happy, well rounded and excited about life.

  • Clothes Sizes changed from XXL to M and roughly 20-22 to an 8-10

For the weight loss itself, I am grateful for joining NOOM when I did...it has helped me to take care of myself from all angles, and I have learned to use my food as fuel and for healing, rather than to continue to hurt me. I am thankful for good resources that have turned my life around this year,

Where I'm Going

Monday, I go for what is called a FibroScan. FibroScan is a specialized ultrasound machine for your liver. It measures fibrosis (scarring) and steatosis (fatty change) in your liver. Fatty change is when fat builds up in your liver cells.

I had this scan back in May, and it provided the final piece of the puzzle to my diagnosis. The dreaded Cirrhosis. I saw it coming, I'd done enough reading to know it...but it still took my breath away.

What I'm Hoping For

The goal of all this work I am doing is to live longer, and live well. PERIOD! Yeah, it's nice to buy smaller clothes, but that ain't where it's at, my friends. I want to LIVE...out loud. So the ultimate goal here was to freeze the disease in it's tracks, and do no further harm.

My inner, quiet, hopeful goal is to see an actual improvement. Who wouldn't want this?

BUT, I have to be prepared for all three scenarios, and continue on no matter the result.

  1. My liver has stopped progressing in a damaged state, and is holding in place since April and the changes I have made.

  2. My liver is continuing to deteriorate.

  3. My liver is actually healing in some way.

I have walked away from quite a few things in life that do not serve me any longer with no regrets, not a single one.

Love, Sue
